Proclaimers of the Word of God

Ministers proclaim the Word of God at Eucharistic Liturgies on Sundays, feast days and special occasions.
Authentic proclaimers not only know how to read in public; they live and love the Word of the Lord.
Qualities of the ideal St. Isaac lector:
- Spirituality
- Has passion and enthusiasm for the Liturgy and the Sacred Scriptures
- Is a fully initiated Catholic and a registered member of St. Isaac Jogues
- Receives Reconciliation and Eucharist on a regular basis
- Talent
- Has the ability to proclaim in a pleasant, clear tone
- Pays attention to modulation, tempo, diction and pronunciation
- Has keen knowledge of the Bible’s diverse forms of expression
- Commitment
- Meditates and practices their assigned readings in advance
- Participates in the Parish Lector Formation Program
- Abides to lectors guidelines, protocols and dress code for proclamation
Lectors Dress Code
- Clean cut; elegant and modest
- Ladies: shirts w/ sleeves; loose fit pants; skirts no higher than knee
- Gentlemen: dress shirts and dress pants
- No casual clothes or tennis shoes
- Quarterly Evenings of Reflection
- Weekly Lectors Rehearsal
- Proclamation Workshops
- One-on-one coaching
