Anointing of the Sick
The "Anointing of the Sick," is the Sacrament given to those who are gravely bodily ill, especially those in danger of death from illness. Call the Parish Office at any time to request this sacrament.
The Anointing of the Sick is a liturgical and communal celebration. It may be performed in the family home, a hospital, or church, for a single sick individual or an entire group of sick persons. It is often also celebrated within the Eucharist, and when needed is preceded by the sacrament of Reconciliation. This sacrament is given to allow the power of the Holy Spirit to lead the sick person to a healing of the soul, and of the body if such is God's will.
James 5: 14-16
Is any one among you sick? He should summon the presbyters of the church, and they should pray over him and anoint [him] with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord shall raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
